Rabbit Savvy Vets

* A note about the test for e. cuniculi and pasteurella, two common diseases known to affect rabbits:
The test for e. cuniculi  and pasteurella only test for a rabbit's exposure to the parasite or bacteria, but not the clinical disease associated with negative symptoms. A large percentage of rabbits test positive, but are asymptomatic and have immune systems that suppress the parasite/bacteria just fine. This is akin to the herpes virus in humans, where testing positive indicates the existence of antibodies, but not necessarily the existence of symptoms. Please take note of this when deciding to test for your rabbit so that you understand what a positive result really means.
